Keeping Orinda Safe

As Vice Mayor, Inga became the first council member to participate in fire evacuation drills by assisting the Lamorinda Community Emergency Response Team to evaluate traffic patterns on Moraga Way and Ivy Drive for a northward evacuation. As Mayor, she assisted with car counts at the confluence of Lombardy Lane and Miner Road for a westward evacuation from North Orinda. Inga championed efforts for a pilot program that bans parking on El Toyonal during red flag days and thanks the El Toyonal Community for their support of this important safety step. She also credits the work of Firewise neighborhoods for important work reducing fuel load, hardening homes in spreading important information about wildfire prevention and protection.

Wildfire Prevention & Preparedness

Inga initiated a City Council committee to work with and hold accountable the Moraga-Orinda Fire District (“MOFD”) which provides Orinda’s fire service. MOFD is a separate agency from the city and is responsible for fire prevention and protection.  Inga is holding MOFD accountable for the fuel mitigation, wildfire prevention and protection Orinda residents are paying for. Inga also supports passage of a one-cent sales tax to provide funding for essential services in Orinda.

Helping Downtown Thrive

Inga is working hard to revitalize downtown. Inga drove implementation of Thursday Night Food Trucks. She led meetings for the Connect Orinda project that envisions ways of connecting our two sides of downtown and liven downtown with things like outside dining and is working hard to finalize a downtown plan that keeps Orinda’s charm while also providing more amenities including restaurants and grocery options for residents and more sidewalks and bikeways to get there.
